I need some fast cash that doesn't take much time (I've been doing webdesign for about 2-3 years now, so I can fly through sites within a few days to a week) since I'm still in school and have a job. I know how to make frames/iframes, tables, custom scroll bars, etc. I also do custom graphics/pixelart. About how much should I charge per site based on:

*Number of pages
*Complexity of the script (i.e. frames vs. tables)
*Number of custom graphics

I don't like the whole hourly rate thing, I would prefer a pay-up-front kind of thing (or pay after seeing image of finished product). Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know of a free Paypal-type script that I could use? Thanks!

My advice: find someone who wants a site and then make it for them for a nominal fee of say $100 or $200 and then take care of hosting the site and the domain name. The charge does need to be appropriate to the level of work you're doing.

If it's a static site the charge will obviously be lower since you're not going to have to go back and update it at all. If the site requires some ongoing work then charge more (say one update per week that sort of thing). And of course if you're just making a site and don't want to have to deal with it again just charge about 30% lower than what you think any competiiton will charge.

Charge thesame fee annually. If they no longer want to pay then take the site down, if they pay leave it up, the key is your the one in charge of where it's hosted etc. Thus it becomes an annual revenue stream as opposed to some quick cash on a onetime basis. Money over a long period is much more prefferable.

Plus you can rent webspace and store multiple sites on it yet still charge the same rates.

Hi my name is jack kenyon, I also run a small website design service. I do it by offering certain packages. I'll send u my priceing scheme in a minute (im not sure exactly where it is) but its a sliding scale depending on pages complexity is they want it updated e.c.t. In case i can't find it I basically say. a base charge of £5 then 5p for each page and add it up in that way with sql costing more e.c.t. I would just always used iframes if i were you and custom graphics I would charge at a rate for the sizes… I don't do it myself so i can't say a price…
