    Promote it all over the internet. Find popular blog sites and post all over forums. You sometimes have to almost spam to get your site known out there.     Who says "if you will build it they will come"? It’s not true. Why should your web design business survive above another company’s? What makes your web design site special? At the moment, it’s just another in long line of web design sites like this one - http://www.taurus-graphics.net

    However, the company above is trying to get business locally, and has created pages on their site to help them to do that. So I recommend that you create local pages - face to face contact is still a great way to make business deals, after all. I would also design a few sites for cheap/free but with the proviso that you get to put a link on their site back to yours, with appropriate anchor text.     If you want to survive in the web design business you are really going to have to a) work hard and b) think differently to other web design companies.
