I have an idea for a website that will i believe rival with twitter and myspace but it would take someone with really good web design skills to put it all together. Where would i even begin looking or get started?

What do coders do? And is it the same thing as the people who set up all the databases (not sure if i used the right word) for the sites?

Please explain..

People who set up databases are database developers. Coders write the code (Javascript, php) for websites.

for the web designers out there how did you learn? besides trial and error. i dont know where to start, is there a simple design i can look at and try to make??

Dreamweaver and Coldfusion both now owned by Adobe. Adobe products would be the way to go since it dominates this industry.

Best to go to college and do an e-media course.
I did a first diploma in e-media last year (one year course) and I am going back next september to the national diploma in e-media (two year course + higher level)
You really do learn A LOT in the first diploma and even more in the second.
