How can I link my Facebook artist page to my personal profile page?
18.December, 2009
I have a personal page and an artist page. Is it possible to link the artist page to the "music" tab on my personal page? Right now when I click that tab it leads to my artist profile on ilike rather than on facebook. Maybe they’re the same thing?
I think yes you can do this but you have to install some fan page application and that application is paid i think.
How can I find a music artist whose song is played during the movie, but isnt mentioned in the movie credits ?
10.December, 2009
There’s this old, underground movie from the early eighties with a song playing during a particular scene (the song is playing on the car radio). The movie makes no mention of the artist or song.I would like to know the name of the artist and a way I can get a copy of the song ? I’m interested in sampling it.
occasionally, if a song is part of the score, it’s not listed in the end credits. this is especially true if it’s background in a scene. (case in point, there’s a really great song in the gas station scene of "reality bites" that’s not in the credits.)
i would look in the credits for who scored the film and see if you can figure it out that way.
or maybe if you tell us the name of the film or some of the lyrics we can help you.

What contemporary artist has some sort of connection with psychology?
24.November, 2009
I have to do a small research paper on a contemporary artist. I am a psychology major and am interested in surrealism, but that’s an older movement. I am looking for an artist with some sort of connection to psychology - perhaps in the art or perhaps this person had an illness? Thanks for the suggestions!

How does it work when an artist gets signed to a record label?
21.November, 2009
What does the producer do for the artist? What does the artist have to do, still write their own songs, or does the record label write your songs, what about the beats, money deals?
It does completely vary from artist to artist and the level of creative control also varies from artist to artist. In some cases an artist has recorded and album and the label just picks it up and releases it as is. In some cases a label will find someone who has a few of their own songs but has a great voice and lots of charisma (usually pure pop stars) and they will arrange for co-writes or songs for them to sing and which producers to work with.
A producer generally tries to help an artist make the best album possible. Producers also vary in their approach and the degree to which they get involved. Many of them help with songwriting and arrangement - some of them are more engineering oriented and just help with the recording process and don’t tamper with the song structure or writing too much.
Money deals vary. Most major labels are doing what they call 360 deals whereby in exchange for putting the record out and putting money behind the artist the label gets to participate in all of the streams of revenue that and artist has including publishing, merch, touring, corporate sponsorship etc.
With regard to who keeps what - classically an artist would keep between 10-20 points (percent) of the income generated by record sales after the costs of making and promoting the record had been recouped but this was in an era before labels participated in other revenue streams as well.
Hope that helps.
What’s the difference between artist and designer in your opinion?
15.November, 2009
Due to my Art Thesis project, i do need people suggestion to this topic "Designer vs. Artist". There’re much article on this topic, but i will review this one in terms of visual language (Illustration Poster). So I want to collect people opinion as much as I can, i want to know that do you know the difference between artist ‘n designer, or what do you think how difference they are.
thx a lot for ur answer ^^
an artist works for her/him-self and therefore has artistic freedom in all respects. a designer could be working for a company therefore being limited in respect of artistic freedom by the demands of the company. designing could be commercial whereas being an artist may involve selling for the best price but it’s not the purpose of the act of creating.
I need to do a project where you talk about an artist that is authentic in a genre, and an artist that is not. Ideas for places to find information would be great too. Any suggestions?
Tracy Lawrence is a pretty authentic country singer, in my opinion.
George Strait and Brooks& Dunn are examples of country singers who started out being really authentic but who have recently taken a turn towards producing music that fits more into the "modern" genre of country.
Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are probably good examples of artists who frequently get classified under the country genre but really aren’t. Good luck! =]
What are the steps to become a tattoo artist?
10.November, 2009
I want to become a certified tattoo artist. I’m wondering what are the best steps to take? I was wondering if just taking a few art and drawing classes would be good enough. What should I do to become better at tattooing. Any tips? Thank you.
You have to go to a tattoo shop and get to know the tattoo artist. You have to make friends with them and then you can get an apprenticeship. Which can cost a lot sometimes 5,000 dollars or even higher. Tattoo artist will not teach some randomer and a lot will deny you. They judge you on many types of artwork in your portfolio. Even when you first start off they make you clean the shop before they ever start teaching you the skill.
You can take classes to help you and make sure you know how to draw in ink. Your lines have to me smooth. Try drawing on a piece of paper with ink without moving it.
Good luck.
